Gear Check Before Race Day
Last-minute event prep should include a gear check. A waterproof dry bag keeps your valuables safe in transition areas, on the riverbank, or at the beach. For multi-sport events, a dry bag backpack is worth considering — it carries everything you need hands-free and keeps your kit dry if conditions turn.
Don’t forget a waterproof phone case. Being able to check start times, photograph your finish, and navigate to the venue without worrying about water damage is one less thing to think about on race morning.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find entry deadlines for UK watersports events?
Check individual event pages on our UK Watersports Events Calendar — each event links directly to the organiser’s entry page where you’ll find deadlines and fees.
Can I enter watersports events on the day?
Some smaller events accept on-the-day entries, but most championships and regattas require advance registration. It’s always safer to enter early — popular events sell out.
What should I bring to my first watersports event?
At minimum: appropriate clothing for the discipline, a waterproof dry bag for your valuables, ID, and plenty of water. Check the event organiser’s website for any specific kit requirements.
